Introducing New Deep Tech Research and Asset Maps

We’re delighted to present the results of our comprehensive DT Launch Pad research efforts and interactive asset maps designed to advance the deep tech landscape across Europe. This phase led by the University Industry Innovation Network (UIIN) aimed to identify the needs and challenges facing deep tech commercialisation, laying the groundwork for stronger support systems within European HEI (Higher Education Institutions) and beyond.

Here’s an overview of the four key outputs from the first six months of DT Launch Pad. However, we invite you to read the full reports and download the asset maps to deepen your understanding of the needs of the deep tech community in Europe.

European Deep Tech Commercialisation Trajectory Report

This report sheds light on Europe’s position in deep tech commercialisation, revealing critical stages—Pre-incubation, Incubation, and Acceleration—that each requires tailored support. Despite Europe’s research prowess, scaling deep tech ventures lags behind other regions due to fragmented markets and limited commercialisation resources. The report outlines strategies to bridge this gap and create collaboration across academia, industry, and government.

National Deep Tech Landscape Analysis

This series consists of seven national reports that detail unique deep-tech commercialisation needs in Austria, Finland, France, Ireland, Slovenia, The Netherlands, and Turkey. Each report provides a country-specific overview, highlighting opportunities for growth and actionable insights that can drive regional innovation and economic development.

Deep Tech Entrepreneurs Needs Analysis

In this analysis, we explore the skills essential for deep tech ventures. It examines the competencies needed by entrepreneurs and the educators supporting them, with a focus on advanced, multidisciplinary expertise to overcome the unique challenges of commercialising groundbreaking technologies.

Asset Maps

Our 65 interactive asset maps reveal critical resources and stakeholders across these same seven European countries, showcasing organisations and professionals central to deep tech. The maps help users navigate the local and regional ecosystems, identify potential collaborators, and uncover opportunities for support. The creation of these maps involved comprehensive research and in-depth interviews with stakeholders, providing an up-to-date view of each country’s deep tech infrastructure.

Our research marks a significant step towards building a robust deep-tech ecosystem in Europe. We invite you to read the full reports and download the asset maps. Join us in supporting the future of European innovation.
